Caring for your Trespass Waterproof Garment

Your Trespass garment should be washed in accordance with the instructions on the care label. This can usually be found inside the garment on the left side seam just up from the hem. If for some reason this label is missing, the standard care instruction for this type of garment is:

Machine wash at 30 degrees
Do not iron
Do not tumble dry
Do not dry clean
Do not bleach
Do not use detergents or fabric softeners
Wash dark colours separately
Dry on a hanger immediately after rinsing

Water repellent finishes to the face of the fabric are not permanent and need to be maintained to optimise performance. There are several factors which will affect the length of time that the waterproof coating will last. However, washing the garment can help to replenish its properties.

We recommend that you do not use detergents or fabric softeners as these contain agents that wash away water repellent treatments and can leave water-attracting residues that will not rinse out. You need to use a mild soap based product, for example Nikwax 'Tech Wash'.

You can buy specialist products which are formulated for washing waterproof & outdoor garments, these are available in our stores. We can also recommend the use of a re-proofing product, Nikwax 'TX Direct Wash In'. These are available in spray-on or wash-in versions and will restore surface water repellence lost through time and wear.

Various treatments exist for alternative fabrics such as fleece and softshell. Woolens and garments with drop-liners can be treated too.

Always read manufacturers instructions. If in doubt, test any cleaning agent on a discreet area of the garment before washing.
